There are two types of compensation you are entitled to claim for:
- General Damages – this is to compensate you for the pain, suffering and loss of amenity that you have sustained. It can include:
- handicap in the labour market
- loss of earnings post-trial
- future cost of care & future cost of specialist equipment
- lost pension
- loss of congenial employment
- loss of use of a motor vehicle.
- Special Damages – these are losses that can be specifically calculated and show the financial losses you have incurred since the accident. It includes:
- medical expenses to the date of trial
- loss of earnings to the date of trial
- cost of the repairs to your vehicle
- damage to clothing
- travelling expenses i.e. taxi fares etc
- cost of services provided by a third party to the trial.
